Residence card replacement
Residence card replacement procedure in case of loss, damage, data change or expiration.
A residence card (karta pobytu) is a residence document issued to foreigners who have been granted a residence permit in Poland. Replacement is required when: the data on the card has changed (surname, address — for cards with an address), the card has been lost/stolen/damaged, the holder's appearance has changed, or the card itself is expiring while the permit remains valid (e.g., a permanent residence card issued for 10 years, a long-term resident card — for 5 years).
What the GetPermit service includes
- determining whether a card replacement is required;
- application to the voivode for replacement/issuance of a residence card;
- reporting document loss (obligation within 3 days of discovering the loss).
Deadlines and official fees
Fee for issuance/replacement of the card: 100 PLN (increased for loss/damage due to fault: 200 PLN for the first, 300 PLN for subsequent losses).
What to watch out for
Replacing the card does NOT extend your residence permit — if your decision is expiring, you need a new residence application.
