New threshold: PLN 13,355.34 gross

Professionals applying for the EU Blue Card in Poland must demonstrate a higher salary in 2026. According to the Statistics Poland (GUS) announcement of 9 February 2026, the average salary in the national economy in 2025 was PLN 8,903.56 gross. The Blue Card threshold is 150% of that amount — in proceedings initiated in 2026 the salary must be at least PLN 13,355.34 gross per month.

Other conditions relaxed

Following the new Blue Card directive, the procedure has been partially unified across the EU: a contract for at least 6 months suffices (previously 12), and in some professions — especially IT — higher qualifications can be proven by professional experience instead of a university diploma. Why is it worth it?

The Blue Card offers a faster path to EU long-term resident status, easier mobility to other member states and more favourable family reunification rules. The card is issued for up to 3 years and is renewable.
